Board member’s grandmother helped to start symphony

By Claire Rootjes

I support Cascade Symphony Orchestra because it has been a part of my family for three generations.

ClaireLBeenMy grandmother, Alice Dawson, was integral to Cascade Symphony’s beginnings in 1963, and she served in various roles for years to come. My mother, a charter member, my sister, and my aunt represent our family today in the viola, violin, and cello sections, respectively.

Monday night Cascade Symphony rehearsals and concerts were a foundational memory of my childhood, and I was excited to reconnect with Cascade Symphony as an adult, as a board member and supporter. Cascade Symphony is an important part of my – and our community’s – past and future.

Your mother has been in my life for over 30 years. As with your love of Cascade, my love and thoughts will never die, and my memorys are to cherish. Your music is blessed and we are in awe of your continued family commitments to a wonderful symphony orchestra. …love to you, Anne Maria and your dearest mother….Kathy.
