Instructions for the 2024 Cascade Symphony Scholarship Application

Cascade Symphony Orchestra will award scholarships of $2,000 to $3,000 to qualified high school seniors attending public, private or home schools in the Edmonds, Mukilteo, Northshore and Shoreline School Districts. Applicants must continue their musical studies in college but need not major in music. An audition video on an orchestral instrument (string, woodwind, brass or percussion, but not piano or guitar) is required.

TO APPLY:

(1) Create a five minute unedited video of your finest playing. Introduce yourself at the beginning of the video. You may use complete works or excerpts from longer works to demonstrate your proficiency. Select pieces that will showcase your technique and musicality. Piano accompaniment is optional.  If performing solo, replace each accompaniment interlude with a 2-3 second pause. The use of a high quality microphone is strongly recommended.  Before submitting your application, listen to your recording to be sure your instrument can be clearly heard.

(2)  Upload your video to YouTube, using the Unlisted privacy setting.

(1)  Complete the application form, which must include the link to your YouTube video.  Save your application using the following naming convention: Firstname_Lastname2024 (for example: Jane_Doe2024.)

Email completed application form to: cascadesymphonyscholarships@gmail.com

Deadline:  Application must be received on or before Monday, April 1, 2024

Applicants will be notified of the results in late April 2024.
