Have you considered giving stock, bonds, or other securities to CSO?

An outright gift of appreciated securities or stock to the Cascade Symphony can avoid the capital gains tax and allow you to receive an income tax deduction for the fair market value of the stock at the time of the gift. Talk to your tax professional to determine if this option might be right for you.

One of the simplest ways to provide for the Cascade Symphony is to name the Cascade Symphony Orchestra as a beneficiary of your retirement plan (IRAs or other pension plans).

By naming the Cascade Symphony as the beneficiary of a retirement plan that could be highly-taxed, you can preserve other assets in your estate that carry lower tax liabilities for your heirs. Talk to your estate planning professional to determine if this option might be right for you.

Consider giving to CSO through a Charitable Remainder Trust.

Transfer assets to a trust that will pay you (and/or other beneficiaries) income for life. At the end of the trust, the remaining trust assets are transferred to the Cascade Symphony Orchestra. You can claim a charitable deduction on your income tax for the present value of the amount donated in the year that you create trust, and may also avoid capital gains tax on long-term appreciated assets used to create the trust. Talk to your estate planning professional to determine if this option is right for you.

Do you have a friend or family member that plays in Cascade Symphony?

Is there a musician, staff member, or person you would like to honor? Consider making a donation to the orchestra in honor of that person. We will include that recognition in our program for a period of 12 months.
